Onboarding Testing

UX Design • User Flows

hero-ob.png

Objective: Provide a positive and rewarding first impression for new users. Continually test, iterate and optimize.

The registration form

was always the first step for new users. Ease of input entry, minimal form fields, and visual appeal all mattered. Extensive testing was done on these forms. A large expression of the prize always performed best.

Onboarding Flow 1

Offering 10 entries to win incentivized the user to continue on. Exposure to our apps and surveys line of business generated additional revenue. Plus, this flow used a more palatable color scheme, and helped it perform

10% better than the control.

Onboarding Flow 2

The main app upsell was reconfigured and strengthened with the addition of the treasure chest — which was a major selling point for the app. We educated users about Tokens and why they were important. Past sweepstakes winners were now included for extra authenticity. Additionally, more ads were inserted.

This all boosted performance by 12%.

Onboarding Flow 3

For this test, we reworked the app upsell again — making it cleaner in design and listing out the benefits. We gamified the flow a bit with the addition of the prize wheel. We kept the educational aspect for the Tokens, but made the visual more exciting. Applying the new design system here also improved the aesthetic.

Results improved 17%.

What I did:

Collaborated with marketing, product and creative leadership to determine the optimal approach for each flow.

Applied our design system to flow 3 which gave it a more cohesive appearance.

Utilized our template system to expedite path setup, testing and optimization.
